It started with a monk.

Morse-code scrapes
waltzed a picture:
a thousand words
and more, screaming
"Outlaw these laws."

And the listeners
scratched at their eyes
as the silent sounds raped
the people of their favorite sins.

The cardinals were matched
and fear dribbled from their chins.

Full title: "Sever Those Strings, Ground Those Birds"

Some words are formed and brushed aside. But other words are formed and rock the core of tradition and reposition the pivot which history cleaves to.

EDIT: 'deadly' is now 'favorite.'

EDIT: Two full stanzas removed and one line takes their place.

Oooh! Delicious freedom. It took a few reads to fully digest everything, but the picture you've painted in my head is very vivid indeed. :D
